In August, for operational reasons, we had two separate London pickets: on Saturday 21st Shellac's picket with Martin and one other, on Saturday 28th Dave, Hartley, John and one other plus Shellac dropped by after the picket. No sound system at ours because ***** is storing it. Roland and Jens will be back in September.

I got up here 07:30 and out at 08:30, caught the 09:15 train and into London 11:00, not long after to the Fitzroy Tavern on Charlotte Street paralell to Tottenham Coort Road where the Org is located. Hartley was there already, John joined us not long afterwards, we were a bit short so waited to see who else would turn up before we started. Soon Steve Carmichael Timson arrived and we had a pub lunch then round to the Org.

The clams were a bit snappier this time, perhaps because of our lowered numbers. There is a new one "black bodywarmer" who is aggressive and a bit of a fool -- he really didn't like his photo being taken, despite numerous instances of the clams taking photos of us and of the public without permission.

Jacques Vollet turned up (apparently in a big fancy limousine?) after 1hr 15mins. Public reception was pretty good: this is a bank holiday period with everyone off work on Monday. my guess is that people were in less of a rush or urgency to complete shopping or get home today. We distributed a couple of hundred leaflets between the four of us, all various Roland types.

We went down the pub when we ran out of leaflets after a bit over two hours. Jacques was very interested in the new guy, Steve Carmichael Timson, who had lots of interesting tales about diving and parachuting exploits. We sat at the tables outside for another couple of pints, briefly joined by Shellac, then made our way home.

A Bank Holiday weekend, so only a small picket outside the Tottenham Court Road 'org'. Four of us turned up at 1:00 with leaflets, placards and of course 'Duke' the loveable toy dog - in commemoration of Judge Swearinger's drowned pooch.
The Scientologists eventually got their act together and started passing out their 'no human sacrifice' leaflet. Since human sacrifice is, to say the least, not common in British churches, this was not a good move on their part. Then Jacques Vollet of OSA arrived and took photographs. The passers-by were even more supportive than in the past, and the only non-Scieno criticism was 'Why bother, everybody knows how bad they are'.

After two hours we had run out of leaflets, and the Scientologists had largely retreated into their downstat "org", so we returned to our usual hostelry, accompanied by Jacques (who still refuses to give me an SP declare, but has decided that I am 'irredeemably doomed').

A sunny and enturbulating day. John ***
