The All Singles Dance where I work was at a nice hotel in Scottsdale AZ. About 7pm as I was setting up a hotel employee asked about what the picketers from the Church of Scientology were about. The church had called the hotel to say they'd be picketing. About 7:15pm I went out but there were no picketers. About 7:30pm I went out again and there were 9 protesters with one-sided signs. They were on a very dark sidewalk in front of the hotel. I tried to take a photo of each of the signs (to be scanned tonight) but it was dark and hard to focus. I hope they come out ok. As I was taking photos I stopped to read one. It said something like "J.J. whose church will you picket next?" and had a photo of me I think from LA in March. Just then a female picketer asked me "who are you?" since I was taking photos. I said "I'm J.J. and there's my picture!" pointing to the sign. She said "oh, you cut your hair!" Most if not all of the signs were directed at me, so you'd think she'd know who I am.

[snip] About 8:30pm my sister went out and the picketers were gone. Hardly anyone noticed them, since it was so dark where they were. [snip]
Anyway, I consider that the point of this picket was to disrupt the relationship between my employer and the hotel. It made no sense as a picket otherwise because no one could see them out there.
