A Swedish citizen XX (not on ARS, but this post made with his permission) who has been publicly criticizing Scientology, has recieved a legal threat from the Swedish lawyer firm employed by the CoS: Magnusson Wahlin Advokatbyra, Birger Jarlsgatan 15, SE-103 86 Stockholm, Sweden. According to the letter, RTC allege that XX has violated RTC copyrights. They claim he is supposed to have, on two different occasions, publicly posted excerpts from OT materials on a street intersection of a Stockholm suburb. Exactly how this was supposedly done is not clear from the letter. It also does not say what particular pieces of the "Material" RTC claim were posted.

From the letter:

"it has come to the attention of RTC that you have posted excerpts from documents called Operating Thetan ("the Material") at the intersection of Lantmaeterivaegen and Hoegbyvaegen in Jaerfaella. This has occurred on two separate occasions, February the 25th and March the 2nd, 1999."

"...RTC possesses the copyrights to the Material... The Material is further strictly confidential, and has not legally been made publicly available through the actions of our client. In a decision by Stockholms Tingsraett [District Court of Stockholm] of September 14, 1998, an individual named Zenon Panoussis was forbidden on the penalty of a fine to take any steps that would result in further infringement of RTC's copyrights to the Material."

"By producing copies of the Material, and making it available to the general public... you have violated the copyrights to the Material."

"You are thus urged to immediately hand over the Material to RTC and refrain from any such actions in the future."

"In case you do not by April 9th 1999 hand over the Material, our client may take legal measures without further notice."

Note that there are no reasons given for RTC's claim that XX is responsible for the posting, if it did indeed happen, although specific dates are given. And how would they know what occurred on a particular day at one out of thousands of street intersections in the greater Stockholm area...?
