If they really are the same folks who picket at my place, I wouldn't characterize it as children's crusade stuff. Joanna and Nick looked fairly young, but definitely at least in high school and very possibly in their early 20s. (I'm terrible at guessing ages.) Bob is almost certainly mid-20s, and Craig could be late 20s - early 30s. (Assuming I'm not way off in all cases.)

Nick and Joanna, despite seeming to be the youngest, did perfectly fine holding up their end of the picket. I doubt anyone told them to come, and if that did happen, they sure jumped into the task with enthusiasm.

As far as I know, they weren't here Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I did find two bigot fliers on Sunday evening, but if they picketed before throwing them through the gate, they were REAL quiet about it.

Craig, Mick, and Joanna stopped by today for another quick revenge picket. I noticed them at around 2 pm and they left at about 2:15.

(It's Mick, with an M, not Nick, as I erroneously reported before. Throughout the picket today, I referred to him as "Mick", but he repeatedly misheard me - intentionally or not, I don't know - and "corrected" me.)

Joanna had a new hand-lettered sign without a stick.

Mick had a video recorder and pointed it at me (and occasional passersby) during our brief chat.

I attempted to give each of them a letter I had written about the libellous nature of their fliers, but each one of them refused to take it. I then explained that I believed they were breaking the law, and suggested that, as responsible Scientologists, they review the law for themselves and make sure they were taking responsibility for their actions. They (Mick? Craig?) said, "So you're threatening to sue us?!?" and I said I wasn't threatening - that I would prefer not to, but that I believed their actions were illegal. Craig said they had had their lawyers check out the fliers and that the lawyers had said they were okay.

Joanna asked me again, "Don't you have a job?" even though we went over that last Thursday (I had explained that, as an independent contractor, I have a lot of control over when I work).

Mick harped repeatedly on the psych history he's certain I must have, asking whether I'd taken my medication today and inviting me to tell him how psychiatry had helped me. I repeated for the umpteenth time that I'm not interested in discussing my personal life.

Mick asked whether I had a boyfriend ("I'm not interested in discussing my personal life"), then asked, "Well, then what's this 17-year relationship?"

Clever boy.

In answer to his question, I grinned a big grin and told him he was welcome to any other information he could find on the Internet.

He of course asked whether that relationship was with a boy ('cause surely I MUST be out-2D) and, like Craig, suggested I really should get a boyfriend - SOME people could be happy single, but not me, he said.

I did a lot more listening than talking this time, although I steadfastly refused to let Craig talk over me, which he attempted several times - notably when I began telling Joanna that Jeff Quiros ("Who's that?" she asked) had given me info contradicting what I had on my web site and fliers, and that I had looked at it, confirmed it, and changed my site and fliers.

I also had an opportunity to correct Joanna's apparent belief that Scientology has never broken the law by informing her that the organization itself was convicted of breaking the law in Canada and that it had been slapped with the biggest libel fine in Canadian history. It didn't seem to faze her. I'm hopeful that she'll think about it later, but perhaps she'll just refuse to confront the truth.

Today's flier (2 were affixed to the apartment gate - that's vandalism, guys - harkens back to the previous "yellow" flier (printed on yellow paper) they were distributing earlier in the year - older photo, harder to see, badly duplicated. They changed "Today she lead a smear campaign against peaceful members of a religion and a picket in front of their church." to "She lead's [sic] a smear campaign against peaceful members of a religion and regularly pickets in front of their church." but otherwise it seems identical to the old yellow ones.

They continued to make inaccurate statements: Craig said I picket "all the time" and "every week" (and wouldn't answer, as usual, when I asked him how often I'd picketed in March), and Joanna asked where I got the money to fly to Los Angeles and Clearwater (I pointed out that I've never picketed in Clearwater). I asked Mick whether he had any evidence to believe I was on medication, too, but of course, he didn't give any.

Pictures will be posted soon (Craig, as usual, hid behind his sign).

They said they'll be back tomorrow, so hopefully I'll see them then.

Wow - yours move around? Mine usually just stand there like lumps. (Note to my picketers: theoretically, you're supposed to keep moving. No one at the org has ever hassled us about this - although we generally DO keep moving - but supposedly, that's the rule.)

My revenge picketers just left. It was the usual trio: Craig, Mick, and Joanna. Mick was wielding his trusty video camera, and Joanna had her hand-made sign again. They were here from about 3:45 - 4:15.

Since they appear to be uninterested in actual dialog, I didn't bother to go down and chat with them today. If they WOULD like to talk with me, they need only ask. Nicely.

I picked up the two bigot fliers they tossed through the gate - they've backed up an issue or two, and they're back to the ones with the decent picture of me, grinning, and calling me "This woman" instead of "Your neighbor."

It didn't appear that they physically attached any fliers to the gate this time ... I wonder if someone had a little chat with them about vandalism. I hope so - I would hate for them to have to do ethics conditions for breaking the law.

Overall, they were pretty quiet. I heard them having a couple of conversations with passersby, but it didn't sound like there were any shouting matches.

I hope they enjoyed themselves - it was a lovely, summery day. Excellent weather for a picket.

The usual trio revenge-picketed my apartment building today. I wasn't here, so that's about all the info I have.

While I was out doing various things today, I strolled down Market Street, enjoying the sunshine and the human parade. I walked right by a Dianetics body-routing table - I wouldn't even have noticed it, but I heard a gentleman's voice saying, "What part of the book did you disagree with?" and I swivelled around to look.

I got some nice pictures of the table full of books and the two e-meters perched in the corners. The two body-routers didn't want to have their pictures taken, so I didn't photograph them. The gentleman immediately went into a standard routine, asking me which books I had read, which parts I had disagreed with ("Dianetics says that Clears have perfect memory." "Oh, so you must not be Clear then." This guy kept finding new and different ways of missing the point.)

He asked what I do a couple of times (making sure to insert the standard line that obviously all I do is go around looking for things to destroy), and I told him to ask Jeff Quiros, who knows all about me. He recognized Jeff's name and asked for mine, and I told him.

When I went around to photograph the e-meters from the back, he initially tried to stop me, and even put his hand on my shoulder - although he removed it when I asked him too. When I continued to crouch next to the table, he changed his mind and held up the e-meter for me to photograph - carefully hiding "SFOD Div 6" with his hand, to avoid, he said, giving anyone any misunderstoods on that.

I continued on my merry way, taking my camera out later to photograph one of the beautiful plaques commemorating human rights in the United Nations Plaza.

I also saw a janitor's strike while I was out walking around. It always does my heart good to see people exercising their right to publicly assemble and request the redress of grievances.

Representatives from Scientology picketed my apartment building again today. Bob was back this time, bringing the total to four - Bob, Craig, Mick, and Joanna. They arrived at around 2:10; I think they were only here for about 15 minutes, but I'm not sure.

I popped my head out the door to make sure it really was Bob (I'd only seen him once before). Joanna had a new hand-lettered sign, smaller, that simply said "Religious Bigot."

During the brief moment I was downstairs, I pulled a couple of Chinese food menus out of the gate, prompting Craig to say something like, "Hey, Kristi, they stuck those on your gate!"

They were back - my own personal trio of revenge picketers, Joanna, Mick, and Craig - with the usual picket signs and camcorder. They were here from 1:55 - 2:10.

I wasn't paying close attention to the conversations on the street, but it sounded to me like at least two passersby gave them an earful.

As they were leaving, Joanna called up to me, "Bye, Kristi - see you tomorrow!"

I'm glad they're having such lovely weather - I hope they're wearing sunscreen. (Although the tree in front of my apartment probably provides decent shade.)

My revenge picketers came by again today from about 3:30 until around 4:10. It was just Mick, Joanna, and Bob to begin with (Bob had the video camera today, while Mick held both a pre-lettered sign and a handmade sign). Craig showed up at around 3:55 and commandeered Joanna's sign.

I popped down to take a few more pictures before Craig arrived. I said hello and asked how they were doing, and they studiously ignored me.

This makes ten days in a row - unless they picketed me on 4/30, 5/1, and/or 5/2 (my records show a gap between 4/29 and 5/3).
