Being a very busy person, I of course never get enough sleep. This afternoon I had one of those luxury naps. Those things you hated when you were and kid and would kill for as an adult. When I woke up I went out to get my mail, and discovered one of the generic "Religious Bigots" flyers, with my name and picture on it tucked over the front door knob. I guess I must have had a picket but I slept through the whole thing.

I guess my house got picketed again last night. I got home around 7pm and didn't leave the house until 7:30 this morning. When I went out the door I found the usual generic "Religious Bigot" flyer suspended by a rubber band from the mailbox, one flyer tucked into the garbage can and secured by the lid, and two flyers on my car's windshield. One flyer for the left windshield wiper, one for the right.
Just another repetition of the old, old theme:
"Ve know who you are, and ve know vere you liff!"
The last time I received such attention was when I had a peeping tom and he left a pair of panties (not mine), hanging on a bush which used to grow over the gate!

Well I went out this evening to run errands at about 8pm, and when I got back home at 9:30, I discovered that the mysterious picketers/leafleters/litterers had struck again! Three of the generic "Religious Bigot" flyers were in evidence: one stuck into the handle of the gate off the driveway, one lying in the bushes next to the steps, and one lying on the path to the front door. Is this what Scientology calls "moonlighting"? : )

Having gotten off early today, I got home around 3:30, to find four very young Scientologists picketing my house and my block. I think they are the same ones that have been visiting Jour in San Francisco, 3 boys and a girl.
One of the boys asked me as I was going in my door, when I was going to leave them alone, at which point they would leave me alone. As far as I know, I've never seen any of these people before in my life. Well I didn't come home early on Friday to spend it with a bunch of people stupid enough to engage in residential picketing. I went in and left them to entertain a bunch of little kids who thought it was either a circus or a parade.

For the fourth day in a row, my house was picketed by Scientologists. Young, young, young Scientologists. One girl looked all of 17. This time there were two young men, and three girls. They had the usual signs, and in addition, a video camera. I guess they must have confused me with Kirstie Alley or something. They got wonderful shots of me opening the door, looking at them, locking the door, going to the car, putting my picket signs in the car and driving off for our newly instituted First Saturday of the Month pickets at the SF Scientology Org. I feel I must make some comments on their behaviour, which was very bad. They were heavily into taunts, the most memorable of which were: "Nobody in this neighborhood likes you very much, Peaches" and "You live here alone with your cat Peaches? Are you one of those people who have a special relationship with their cat?" It took me back to the usual third grade schoolyard behaviour, when a bunch of kids gangs up on one kid. The boy with the video camera told me he would see me when I came home from picketing, and then they all kinda rushed the car shouting stuff as I drove off down the street! Tell me,is this what rock 'n' roll stars feel like? So we had the usual picket. It was nice and quiet at the org, where Kristi, Administrati and I did the usual drill. I think those kids who were at my house should come by one of our pickets and see how adults conduct themselves on a picket line. Of course I do not approve of residential picketing at all. Really, it's just organized stalking. I will point out that I never have given any of these people my address,and I don't really want to know them. I expected them to be there when I got back, but they weren't. It was nice weather. Perhaps they went off to do something more fun than shouting at some poor old addled crazed cat lady. : )Peach

Yes, there was another picket at my house today. I was on my way to take a bath, as I had company coming, and I heard someone outside. It was one of the people who had been here picketing on Friday. I don't know if anyone else was here, as I was not about to postpone my bath. When I emerged shiny and clean, I took a look and no one was outside, but once again there were bigot flyers applied to my car. I would like to point out that my car is on my property, and no one has my permission to come on my property in order to leave flyers, least of all ones describing myself in a rude and scurrilous manner!

Home with the groceries at about 7pm, a solo picketer down at the end of the block hurries up so she can be right in front of my house as I get out of my car. This one is a sixtyish woman with a big sign, a fistful of what were undoubtedly "Religious Bigot" flyers, and of all things, a pair of sunglasses. I called the police, and put away my groceries. I checked awhile later and indeed an officer was out front discussing matters with the Sunglasses Woman, and he said that he'd talk with me later. I fed the cats and checked in about 15 minutes, and they were still talking. When I checked in another 15 minutes, no one was there. I have no idea what happened.

Stalked by Scientology Again
This afternoon while cleaning my living room I noticed that there were people picketing my house again. There was the shrill young blonde girl, the tall black man who had been here on a previous Friday, and the short blonde boy with the video camera. He was taping my front door, where nothing was happening!

I called the police. Two officers came, asked for their names, which they would not give.
The officers apparently asked them to leave, and on the way, take with them the flyers they had once again stuck into the chain link fence next to my house.

It was quite the neighborhood drama. One policeman talking to the three Scientologists on the sidewalk, one talking to me on my porch, where I am afraid I lost my temper and loudly mentioned things like "cult" and "stalking", and in response to the suggestion that I come to an agreement with Scienotology, "I don't make deals with the devil!"

I went in to get my camera which I had finally gotten film for, and by the time I got outside, the Scientology kids were walking away down the block. I followed hoping to get pictures, but my camera wouldn't work! I was pretty pissed off and wanted to get a license number, however it developed into a Keystone Kops episode, with the shrill girl trying to flag down a departing policeman to charge me with stalking them, while my camera refused to work, and they went to a bus stop to wait for their transportation home. I tell ya, I don't think I'm cut out to be a private eye.

But humor aside, I take this intrusion seriously. This is a very good example of the sort of harassment techniques used by Scientology against its critics. I will point out again, I don't know who any of these people are who are turning up in my neighborhood seeking to make me a target, and nor would they supply their identities to the police. I am not listed in the phone book, for good reason - to avoid being targeted by the generally deranged!

May 18th: Two different flyerings, one wrapped around rocks in front yard found about 6pm, and yet another flyering, which occurred after dark...stuck in the chain link fence, which I found when I went to put out the garbage at 10:30 pm.

May 19th: two flyers found, one the fence, one in the geraniums at 7:40 am...left by the after dark flyerer the night before.

May 20th: a loose flyer in front yard, and one under the garbage can in the driveway, found at 6:20 pm.

May 21: two flyers twist tied to the chain link fence, left by the after dark flyerer and found at 9:45pm.

And that's the stats folks.

I got a home picket by two Scientologists today, so I thought I'd report on it, and the last couple of incidents I hadn't posted before.

May 27, 1999: Two incidents. I got home at 7:20 pm to find two people picketing my house with the standard "Religious Bigot" flyers attached to picket signs. Both were older people, who certainly ought to have known better, one man, one woman. They seemed pleasant, aside from the fact that they were picketing my house and calling me a religious bigot, which I am not. I took a couple of pictures and went in to do some housework, but kept an eye on them. When I noticed they had gone, I went around the corner to where I figured they had parked their vechicle, and sure enough, there they were preparing to drive away. I got photos of the license plate.

Someone else came by later and left one of those rock-filled, rolled up flyers on the walkway to my house.

May 30, 1999: I was talking on the phone at 12:40pm and noticed a flash of white thru the front window curtain. It was the man named Craig who has picketed me before. I wasn't exactly ready for a public appearance so I spruced up and got my camera. This took about 5 minutes, and while I was doing so, I heard a conversation outside. I assumed that my picketer had been joined by another picketer. But when I opened the door ready to get a picture, no one was there. I believe that the conversation may have been one of my neighbors, who are not very happy to find Scientology abroad in the neighborhood in this particular form, requesting that the Scientologist should enjoy his Sunday elsewhere.

June 6, 1999: I was getting a magazine out of the basket next to the curtain, and noticed that once again, I was being picketed. Two picketers this time, the woman with the dark curly hair, and Craig. Craig seems to be a very ambitious man. I went out to get pictures, and my next door neighbors were all outside.

It has been my policy to do my best to not engage in discussion with the Scientolgist Home Picket/Harassment Brigade. I do not wish to reward what I consider to be outrageous stalking. My neighbors however, have no such policy. In the strongest terms they advised the Scientologists to leave the neighborhood. Which, after a few minutes, the two Scientologists did. My neighbors also said that their kids don't like to walk down the sidewalk when the Scientologists are there. The kids don't know OSA or Xenu or an SP from a hole in the wall, but they recognize what is going on here for exactly what it is.
