The IAS 15th Anniversary Event Picket

10/30/99

I've got to be honest with you.  This was an event I was going to completely ignore.  I saw the banner on L. Ron Hubbard Way a week before the event but felt there was too much going on to spend time on this.

But then I saw this anonymous threat posted on ars:

"Bunker, you are warned to stay away this weekend.

You have no idea what bad things happen to people
who oppose the Church of Scientology.

You have been warned."

That peaked my curiosity so I ventured down to Hubbard Way again.  This time I took the patented MintonCam.  Once again the Scientologists provided me with much better footage than I deserved.  As I pointed my camera at the banner, they turned off the banner light.

Then Don NOTS booked a flight to come and picket and Keith Henson announced he would be here as well.  Now I had to attend.

And since Scientology had sent a PI to spy on me the previous weekend I felt I really should pay them some attention.

So...a very small but effective picket was mounted at the Celebrity Center and the Shrine Auditorium, home of the event.

Very soon I will have some video up here featuring Don, Keith, myself and FubarZ.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures from the Celebrity Center.

My favorite Scientology couple.

This is R.J. and Vickie.  I have met them twice before and enjoyed my visits with them very much.   We have gotten along well but I fear our relationship will fall apart after this get together as they felt I was setting them up when I asked about Vickie's repeated claims that Dianetics cured her mother-in-law's arthritis.  This is a claim she has made three times on tape and when I asked about it she felt I was twisting her words and setting her up.  I don't believe I was but I felt it should be discussed.

Check back for video soon.
