I picked up my picket partner after getting my flat tire fixed. You know, of course, I got that flat because I pulled it in for picketing the bOrg the day before. ;-)) I have to guard against underestimating the audacity of the bOrg minions. I know they are currently distracted by the demand that they all appear en mass at a celebration in LA. I expect the worst every time I go. I will not be taunted or harassed into regrettable actions. I keep reminding myself this is a contact and salvage mission each time I go out. I will continue to discuss the three key elements of the SCAM, namely telepathy with dead space aliens, past lives with no proof, and nonexistent research of the "science" of $cientology. Mr. Hubbard was staunchly anti-science, anti-"higher education", anti-critical thinking skills. I just read the fliers that the clams were passing out. It is in a booklet form titled What is $cientology (WIS). Inside is a article called Personal Integrity. Lets talk about this article a little to see the truly sinister covertly hostile nature of this sociopath named L. Ron Hubbard. He starts out by saying "What is true for you is what you have observed yourself and when you loose that you have lost everything." The human perceptions are entirely fallible and have to be constantly guarded against when formulating conclusions or evaluating observations. Anyone that has seen a magic show or been fooled by an illusion knows that the data received by the perceptions must be constantly moderated by knowing their limitations and susceptibilities. But Mr. Hubbard, the liar college flunky drop-out (his transcript not my allegation), goes on to say " . . . That we always observed to observe. And not necessarily maintaining a skeptical attitude, a critical attitude, or an open mind." Here the artful sociopath paints the picture that these qualities, that sane humans have instinctively used (namely skepticism and critical observation) to guard against the limitations of their perceptions, are a bad thing. There is no end-all simple answer in education or life. It is, at times, infinitely difficult to learn everything first hand. It is a basic human trait to want to be lazy regards to observation and education. Simply put it is a lot of hard work to have to always be on guard and learn from your environment or to get an education. But here by way of this profound statement he lays the ground work for discarding the lessons learned vicariously through the wisdom of parents or others by whatever means. Then in the final paragraph the clever con-artist goes on to suggest as follows, "Nothing in Dianetics and $cientology is true for you unless you have observed it and it is true according to your observation. That is all." When this little subtle gem combined with the muzzle of "verbal tech" whereby no discussion of one's own observations are permitted either in or out of class either positive or negative you have the beginnings of a perfect package for programming a automaton drone. Cut off from the world of collaborative learning and isolated from inspecting and discoursing the catechism of $cientology with others of similar interests the student is left to stand as a member of the group and salute the cold bronze colored bust of Mr. Hubbard, the wife beating deadbeat dad malingerer. This channel of idol worship and weekly "win sharing" on graduation night is the usual primary method of "comparing notes" with other students. So the student will have "observed" that it works by listening to the wins and, completely consistent with normal human behavior, may manufacture or delude themselves into believing they have similar experiences to share so as to not be left out. Critical Thinking doesn't necessarily mean being a "constant critic" with a "negative" or combative attitude. It is a way of life that leads to answers and understanding at the very least. The description of "having an Open Mind" is so vague and misused as to be particularly sinister all by itself. But Mr. Hubbard, true to his evil self, in this passage as well as other places he used "open mind" consistently paints this concept as a "bad thing". As we all know the better the science fiction authors are better because they have the art of lying down to a science. But, remember that "WE" while reading the "sci-fi" have willingly and temporarily suspended our disbelief (our critical thinking self) for the duration of the reading of the book. If anyone knows where Mr.. Hubbard explains his deference to "open-mindedness" I'd appreciate getting a full text reference so I could finally settle this internal personal quest for why he guarded against this concept so often. I now believe he painted the extreme case of "totally open-minded" non-committal as a contrast to subtly get those shards of ones "personal sense of disbelief" to take up their roots and dissolve once and for all and actually result in a "close-mindedness" of sorts. The artful story-teller knows a good-bad dichotomy gets you to take sides and remain connected for a while longer to see the story through more identified with the characters. $cientologists are trapped by their unsuspecting nature now unmoderated because their sense of disbelief is dissolved by this onslaught of vague reference to "using critical thinking skills" is a bad thing. Hubbard was, among many other evil things, a moderate story teller that could twist a tall tale with the best of them. I considered myself as "in" $cientology for longer than a 15 year period. During this that time I struggled constantly to "adjust" my critical (carefully exact and close inspection) inquiry into the voluminous works "attributed" to Mr.. Hubbard. The concept of "open mind" is listed as one of the sources of trouble in a policy letter written by him. I always wondered, as I looked for other references to "open-mind", if there was any concrete examples of this behavior that I could relate to a composite person and the subsequent expulsion from the group by this policy letter. I never found the personality composite. I think that most of the apostates of Mr.. Hubbard kept an open-mind and by way of their willingness to learn from others and by way of their open-mind let their own personal sense of disbelief take a healthy place along side of their open-mind. My picket report reveals the thoughts that carry me from the comfort of my arm-chair, in the solitude of my home, out to the streets to carry the message of "Look over here, what is that person saying". Learn from those around you about the dark underbelly and insidious nature of the Hubbard Spew. Hey what is that you are doing over there? Are you being told "DO NOT "OBSERVE!"" - isn't that a just a little bit more than a "minor out-point" when you wrap your wits around the "Personal Integrity" passage. My message will become "DO NOT OBSERVE ME" and "DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS - PERIOD!" and most of all "NEVER NEVER TALK TO ME!!" Back to the picket report; (whew) As we arrived I could see the tall Asian gentleman, from a block away, that works the Public area standing outside. As soon as he spotted me he darted inside. As I arrived at the site three people, including him, left to distribute the WIS booklets to the public on the streets. My picket partner went for a walk with them. The booklets aren't cheap to distribute. I estimate their cost at between $0.70 and $1.00 each. They are four 8.5x11 sheets full color saddle stitched with a post-paid request card insert. When they later returned their one foot tall stack of fliers was gone. I decided, reluctantly, to not advise my picket partner to stay here with me. As a solo picket for about 40 minutes or so I paced about occasionally stating my position on the "SCAM", and "BAIT and SWITCH." As the staff occasionally caught my eye or would accept a gesture from me they were able to "contact" a completely coherent individual even if only for the moment they would afford me. At one point I wanted to give the receptionist a copy of the newer flier. She declined to accept directly. I told her that her superiors "up-lines" would want a copy in the report. She didn't respond aside from stating "They know all about you and what you are up to here already!" I offered that this flier was a little different and that since she couldn't have direct contact with me would she accept my leaving one here on her little table outside the door. She didn't object, and came soon to retrieve the sheet. Most people that passed had their "sense of disbelief" intact. I got a few high-signs and a few funny looks. The long time residents of this island paradise are deeply entrenched in their own "superstitions" and belief structures thusly leaving little room for the likes of the bOrg SCAM. I observed that none of the staff seem to be of Polynesian extract. Several of the staff are Asian, several are Caucasian. During the picket a nice full bodied Caucasian woman stopped to ask why we were picketing a religious organization. I could see that she related to the occupants of the building by way of her own belief system. She shared her Christian convictions with us. I related the bOrg World Conquest plans with her. I could see that her own religion has the same hopes. I related that the means of re-conversion of apostates included the use of a policy of "Fair Game". I could see that the reluctance continued since the Christians had used similar re-conversion techniques called shunning. I related the bait and switch story; first your "reactive mind" is the cause of all of your troubles which you "pay for services" to get rid of with the concept of "I am mocking up my reactive mind". Once you reach that "level" you are introduced to the "Non-corporeal Space Aliens" that infest your body as the cause of all your trouble including illnesses and diseases. But the bait and switch doesn't stop there either, the concept of the "space-cooties" continues on up to the next level after that since there are now "unconscious and sleeping" clusters of "Non-corporeal Space Aliens" that need further enormous sums of money to handle. I related the quotes by Mr. Hubbard, "There was no Christ." I reiterated the claim that $cientology could be practiced along-side-of any religion but that after spending nearly $100,000 you would be introduced to material that you must accept that claims that "Christ was an R6 Implant" which meant that she would have to abandon her beliefs about her existing religion. The contact with this nice woman continued with me reading her expression as perhaps a bOrg operative. I asked point-blank "Are you a $cientologist? or Are you connected in anyway to $cientology?" Her reaction was sincere - "No I am not, but I understand why you ask!" We both smiled and she took one of both fliers. Later as the militant hippie type woman with long straight hair returned with a 7-9yr old boy in tow I offered her a flier and a smile. She declined and accused me of offering lies about the "tech." I offered to read aloud the clip of OTIII in Hubbard's own handwriting. As I began to read the words the receptionist lady bolted for the door and pulled them shut. A short time later the tall older Asian gentleman, I think he is a Exec in the Public Division, returned from passing out WIS and actually took a flier. As he turned to the closed doors he crumpled the sheet aggressively at about his eye-level. I could see that he was visibly upset. It was nearing the Thurs 2PM deadline for reporting Stats up-lines and this double picket this past week may have given him a start of an emergency situation to handle. As I watched through the front window another woman sat silently in the public area filling out her "paper" Stat Sheets (Stuck in the 50s Technology still using carbon paper and pencils). I could see that the left most indication was nearly at the Zero Mark. Next mark was close to the top followed by a sharp dip, a slight rise, another sharp dip followed by a flat plateau. With another dip or a plateau she would be either in emergency or worse as far as I could tell. She may have been new since that would explain the initial sharp rise of the graph. From time to time the various staff would pause in the lobby area and just stare through the window. They would stand motionless for moments just watching me through the window. At times I would loudly state "The Tech is a SCAM - IT WILL NOT PROTECT YOU" "Why am I still here!?" As I finish this report it is a little after 8PM Hawaii time. The weather tomorrow, Dec 25 should be great for a quick picket around noon followed by on the day after at about the same time, making two for the second week in a row by this time Sunday Night.
