======== Subject: CW Picket report: One High Light: From: bpetty@primenet.com (Bruce Pettycrew) Date: 7 Dec 1999 04:21:04 GMT Message-ID: <82i1vg$oc6$1@nnrp03.primenet.com> ...and I do mean a High Light: I was driving for a very determined ex-OSA SP who had created a mobile high wattage slide projector powered by my car's battery via the cigarette lighter socket and a 12 volt to 115 volt converter. The idea was to enhance the start of the candlelight vigil for Lisa McPherson. We stopped at the corner of the Ft. Harrison building that was next to the vigil site. The mad wizard projected a 12 foot circle of light on the side of the Co$ property; the slide read "We will never forget you, Lisa". When the traffic light changed, I drove around the block behind the Ft. Harrison and we repeated the message a second time. On the third trip around we picked up an OSA follower car, and as we came to the stop sign on the road behind the building, we discovered another OSA vehicle stopped and not moving. Luckily, I stopped short of the second car, so that even though our tail pulled up almost to my rear bumper, I was able to drive around the front car and pull up to the Ft. Harrison for one more slide projection. Then we parked and joined the vigil. More picket stories later. Bruce Pettycrew ======== Subject: Picket Report: Welcome to Clearwater From: bpetty@primenet.com (Bruce Pettycrew) Date: 8 Dec 1999 03:43:35 GMT Message-ID: <82kk57$8j5$1@nnrp03.primenet.com> I spent Saturday picketing on several locations on Ft. Harrison Street. I brought my own sign, a foam board about 3 feet by 2 feet with black 2 1/2 inch letters: $CIENTOLOGY HURTS PEOPLE I wore it with a ribbon around my neck to allow me to handle my cell phone and video camera while picketing. The people in cars on Ft. Harrison and Cleveland streets were _overwhelmingly_ in favor of the pickets. Almost 80% of the the drivers/passengers were giving us thumbs-up or honking as they drove by. I positioned myself behind the Co$ building on Ft Harrison, across from the ex-bank building at the Cleveland street intersection. The cult had parked two U-Haul trucks in the parking lot to try to block the view of the students that were constantly being bussed around Clearwater between the various Co$ buildings. As the vans arrived at the back of the building, the guards would unlock the doors and cultists would hurry from the building to the vans or vice versa. They kept their heads down or turned away from me. I would then lift up my sign and yell "Don't look at the sign, don't look at the sign!". About 3/4 of them would then glance up at me: Score: Reactive minds 3 - Tech 1.
