Just as we like it - we owned the sidewalk. Mad Cow and wynot
pretty much covered it in their reports, so I'll just make a few
comments on what they said.

Just a slight correction here - the woman was leaving the org, not
pulling in off the street, and after spotting us, she hesitated in the
driveway on her way out. She backed up and parked again, and got out
to talk to Mad Cow. (oh yes, and there is that missing "c" that *is*
on Mad Cow's sign but is not in wynot's post.)

We don't have a lot of opportunity on the picket line to give out
flyers since there is so little foot traffic by the org, but I decided
we should have ~something~ to give out just in case someone asks or
whatever. The flyers were:

1. Rod Keller's text, "Why we picket", edited slightly. The flyer had
a graphic of a picket sign at the top with "Why We Picket the Cult of
Scientology" on the sign, and the outline of reasons next to the sign,
printed on bright yellow paper. URLs:
International Pickets (http:/alley.ethercat.com/pickets/ )
Our local site (http:/www.arscc-atl.com )
Operation Clambake (http://www.xenu.net )

2. "Cognitions of a Liberated Scientologist", printed on bright blue
paper. I hope she reads this one - she had said how scientology
doesn't hurt people, it makes her feel good, and that's what this text
is all about. Does anyone know who wrote this? I would like to add
URLs for the "books and articles exposing scientology" even though the
author asks for no editing or abridgement. I added only one URL for
Operation Clambake, saying most of the references can be found in
public libraries or from there, at the very end.

3. The introduction to the New York Times piece called "The Shadowy
Story Behind Scientology's Tax-Exempt Status, with a pointer to the
web for the rest of the article, and pointers to Chris Owen's IRS
section (http://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/~cowen/essays/irs.html )
and Operation Clambake. The text is in letters with shadows behind
them to add interest, and this flyer is bright green.

All the flyers are on one sheet of paper, with printing on both sides.
The colors make it easy to see that people have a copy of each. Plus,
they act as "eye candy" to attract attention. :-) I'll add them to
our site soon, in case anyone's interested in using them.

Yes, it made a nice demonstration to have Mad Cow telling her that
they won't want her to read the flyers, and that she should listen to
what others have said, look for other information outside co$, and
find out for herself, rather than just relying on what co$ says or
what he tells her; and at the same time, here's Susan, trying subtly
to get hold of the flyers and telling her they are full of lies, not
to read them, and that Mad Cow is a liar and a criminal.

At that point, Mad Cow challenged Susan on what exactly his crimes
were, and the asian woman was notably shocked to see her fellow
parishioner become so defensive and venemous while Mad Cow remained so
polite. It looked like the woman was trying to get Susan to go back
inside and leave her alone to talk to Mad Cow, saying to her, "it's
ok, I just wanted to tell them that scn doesn't hurt people, it's ok,
I'll be alright." But she wanted to talk to Mad Cow some more. I
think she was impressed with the fact that he comes from Alabama
(where she is from) just to picket.

Will try to make some video of this available, but advance warning,
the sound is very bad due to traffic noise. Maybe a video and a text
transcript of what was said would work...
