Mad_Cow, Ethercat, and I arrived at the cult's storefront at 5:00.
There were 9 cars in the driveway. We had the usual compliment of
signs, including 2 'Is A Scam's. The first 20 minutes or so were
quiet, with a few smokers watching us from the side of the building.
But soon Susan Webb arrived, and things got interesting.

First, as usual, the police arrived. Susan whined all about how evil
we were, picketing her church, and harassing her parishioners. This
time the police officers were not as friendly as at previous
pickets. Not to say they were unfriendly, but I think they were
getting tired of being called all the time. The officers gave us the
usual 'stay off their property, don't block their driveway, etc...'
talk. They left after about 10 minutes.

Almost immediately after thepolice left, 'John', the 27 year culty
who harrassed S at our last picket came out, and walked right up to
me. "What is your crime!" he screamed in my ear. I walked away, but
he followed, still yelling at me that I was a criminal, and that my
crimes would be found out. He cursed me most vilely, calling me a
criminal and a fool and an asshole, and then began bumping me as I
marched. I asked him politely to please step away from me, whereupon
he began bumping me harder. I went to EC, who had the cell-phone,
and asked her to please call the police. She told me that she
already had. As soon as John heard that, he turned on his heel and
almost ran back into the cult's building.

When the police arrived, it was the same 2 who had been there
earlier. They pulled fairly far into the parking lot, and talked
first to Susan and John. They then went to EC, and asked her if she
was the one who had called. She said yes, and she and I began to
detail John's actions of a few minutes before. We explained that we
had no intention of taking part in any violence, but that the
culties had a history of physically attacking critics, and that I
interpreted his behaviour, bumping me, and using what I would
consider 'fighting words', as threatening. The police asked if I
wanted to file charges, and I said not now, that I just wanted
protection from his abuse. The officers told EC and me, and I assume
John and Susan, that if there were any more physical contact between
us of any kind reported that they would take us all to jail. We said
that was fine with us, as we had no intention of attacking them.
After that, the culties did stay at least a step or 2 away from us
as we picketed.

But that did not stop their tirades, and when S and Mea Culpa
arrived just before 7:00, they soon had as many people as we had,
yelling at us as we picketed. People were starting to arrive for the
Anniversery party, and the lot was filling and over filling. I
estimated they had maybe 35 to 40 people there in all, not counting
children. I had to wonder what they thought of their high
muckety-mucks standing at the edge of their parking lot, screaming
at a handful of peaceful picketers, and failing to make us leave.

We decided this time to keep a count of our acks from the passing
traffic. They were, as always, steady, and by the time we quit
picketing our count had topped 70. One in particular was
interesting; a woman yelled at me, asking when we would be out here
again - she would like to join us. I asked her if she knew about the
cult, and she told me that she was a psychiatric nurse, and had
heard all about Lisa McPherson. Another big win for the cult!

By 8:00, most of the culties had gone inside, and we decided that we
would allow Susan, John, and the few still watching us to join the
festivities. We had picketed them for 3 hours, and it seemed
sufficient...

This was the first time that they had gotten physical with us. I
admit to having worried that they might try to do us real harm. But
the strength of Mad_Cow, Ethercat, S, and Mea Culpa buoyed my
spirits, and I knew that we were the cause, and the culties could
never be anything but effect. ARSCC-ATL RULEZ!

Pickets are the one thing that Scientology hates the most because
they can't lie to their members about it, at least to the ones who
see it.. They can't demonstrate their OT abilities and 'postulate'
people away using Tone 40, which invalidates them. This is a direct
confront to their great powers and is what they hate the most and
all the lies they tell their members is only a picket away from
revealing itself.
