Ethercat and I arrived at the cult's storefront at 4:00, signs
ready. EC had the 'suppresses free speech and free thought', and I
carried several signs, including the 'is a scam', and 'convicted in
canada' backed with 'banned in greece', and the '$360,000 for
Salvation?' sign. It was quite windy, but our stickless signs are
easy to handle - you can use your body as an extra resting point to
keep them secure.

There were 9 cars there when we began. Shortly after, one of the
culties came out, and moved his very beat-up Ford to the back. I
guess they wanted to look more able! After about half an hour, a
Saab pulled in, and two young women got out and headed for the
door. They turned the handle, but could not get in! They had to
pound on the door until someone came and unlocked it to let them in.
Are they so afraid of one man and one woman with paper picket signs?

After about an hour Linda came out and began following me as I
picketed, attempting to engage me in conversation. I mainly ignored
her, responding just a little for politeness's sake. She asked me
what my friend's name was, and I told her to ask Susan - she knew.
Linda said Susan wasn't there, so I informed her that Susan was
there, as she had just pulled in. Those OT powers must not be
working too well - I guess she needs more auditing...Susan came on
out after a few minutes, just in time to see two more picketers
arrive! I distributed signs to our fellow critics, and we began
pickting in real earnest.

The culties finally have a sign! Two, in fact - banners tied to
posts, one for church of scientology, the other for hubbard
dianetics foundation. I guess they regged some publics pretty hard,
since banners are not cheap - thought cheaper than permanent signs.
I think that contributed to the nearly endless stream of honks,
waves, and thumbs up we got from passing traffic.

As usual, they called the police, and as usual, the police officer
told them that we had every right to picket. The nice officer did
tell us that we could not go on their property, but we said we had
no intention of doing that. We also told her that they had been
known to initiate violence against picketers, but we did not think
they would start anything with us. Also, as usual, we were armed
with a cell phone, a video camera, and our first amendment rights.

The four of us picketed until just after 6:00, then decided we had
done enough for the day, and retired to the coffee shop next door
for iced beverages before we went home. Another good picket!

'Til next time;

Pickets are the one thing that Scientology hates the most because
they can't lie to their members about it, at least to the ones who
see it.. They can't demonstrate their OT abilities and 'postulate'
people away using Tone 40, which invalidates them. This is a direct
confront to their great powers and is what they hate the most and
all the lies they tell their members is only a picket away from
revealing itself.
