Hello, last updated Feb. 1999, this page contains information on Dianetics Life Improvement Center Mission of Las Vegas and Dianetic and Life Improvement Center. While the names look alike, the scientologists who are part of this particular lie consider that these are two different organizations, both of them needed to handle the great demand for the L Ron Hubbard technology. One of the local advertisements here in Vegas even claimed that the Dianetic Center was opened because there was no room for all the new students at the existing orgs. The text and picture story that follows will show that both these businesses are lies, they do not exist, they are only part of the typical lies told by scientologists to support the claim that Scientology is Expanding. It was my original picture of Mail Boxes Etc. that caused the cult to change their web page. Feb. 1999 I spoke to Linda Hodges herself on the phone, she said that BOTH Dianetic centers were located at... well read on and enjoy.

The phone number is to a private home, I do not know who. The address however is for Mail Boxes Etc. Perhaps there is a chance that the address listed on the internet is wrong? NO. The address listed, 9030 W. Sahara, is also an address used by at least two local OT's as their own business address. This is simply to much coincidence.

Now the next story is a long one, it starts around 1993. To shorten this long story...

Sometime late 1993 or early 1994 it was announced that a new dianetics center was opened. At the time I was a member in good standing, and like the other members found it to be exciting news, however, I never could find the actual dianetics center on W. Sahara Ave., and nobody seemed to know exactly where it was, eventually I just forgot about it altogether.

And then this article appeared in my newspaper May 3, and April 26, 1997:

A free Dianetics workshop will be offered from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today by The Church of Scientology
Dianetics Center, 3355 Spring Mountain Road. (362-1299).

I had found these ads through an internet search, since finding them I had been successful in actually finding the "dianetics center". They are elusive on the telephone, they do not give out the real address easily. They cannot give it out of course as there is a real business at that address, Preferred Security Mortgage, and they have nothing there to suggest a scientology or dianetics presence. No books posters or advertisements for the "church", nothing!. There is a phone line of course with an answering machine. Here are pictures of this office containing three businesses:

This can be considered the end of the story, what follows are an account of the adventures taken to find this location, written by Ted Mayett, circa Oct. 1997.

And now I see this ad in the newspaper, I find the ad around 6/17/97. And so i dial the number that very night. The recording say's, "You have reached the Dianetics and Life Improvement Center, our hours are 5-9pm Mon-Fri, 10-2pm Saturday."

I have a friend call to find out just where they are located. They will NOT tell him. He persists in questioning, with my coaching, and learns the name of a Bar and Restaurant they are next to.

I go that evening about midnight to scout the area out, to see what the Center looks like. And I cannot find it! Nobody in the bar knows anything about scientology or dianetics being in the area. And this complex is huge, 3355 Spring Mountain covers hundreds of offices.

The next day I have a different friend call and ask for their address, she is good on the phone and gets an office number from them, #48. Now I go back to the office complex and look for #48. Again I cannot find Dianetics or Scientology in the area, and I walked all around those offices looking in the windows. This is two trips so far and a total of 3 phone calls to learn the location. My lady friend had made a second call that day.

Now I go to the leasing office for that Complex. I ask the secretary where the Dianetics is located. She say's there is no scientology or dianetics in this complex. I say there is one here, that I have the phone number and that it is suite 48, but that I don't know if it is C-48, D-48, E-48, etc. The woman insists that there is no scientology at this location. I ask to use her phone. This time I call the clams myself and I say, "I am calling from the leasing office, what is your suite number?" I get told "48" I say, "not good enough, is it D-48, E-48, what is it?" _Finally_ I get a real suite number from them, D-48.

The secretary say's that D-48 is Preferred Security Mortgage. I say to the secretary that it looks as though Preferred is a front group for scientology, that when people respond to the ad they are sent to the E. Sahara location. I ask her if that suite number is getting tax breaks. The secretary gets mad and say's "who are you, what do you want?" I say I'm taking pictures and putting them on the internet, thank you.

Now I go take pictures. There is a male and a female in Preferred, they watch me, I am going slow with exaggerated motions, making a big drawn out production of taking a few pictures. They never come out of the office, they just move away from the windows to avoid being photographed. After the pictures I go back to the leasing office to show the secretary what is going on the Internet, I also apologize for being a bit rude. I ask her if it is OK to have two businesses in one suite, she say's she just rents them out and the people can do what they want to. I said, "they can even sleep in the suites" She said no. I then gave the secretary a quick rundown of scientology being a dangerous criminal cult that uses front groups all over the planet and that people like myself simply find them and report on them. The secretary... I wonder if she will watch them now. :-)

This same day, that night, I do a search on the Net for Preferred Security Mortgage. It turns out that Preferred used to be located on West Sahara! Now isn't that interesting. I again call that office, but this time I dial Preferred's number and not the Dianetics number. The woman will NOT give me the address of Preferred. She asks me why I want the address, she says it is a different BUSINESS during the evening and that I have to call during the day to get the address.

What does all of this mean?

For one thing they do not have caller ID working at either phone number, without a doubt my phone number is a Red Flag to them. But the important thing it means is this: They advertise fraudulently, they run ads for a workshop that they have no intention of delivering. And it means that the Dianetics Center is simply a Stats thing, a thing for scientologists to clap and cheer about. The Dianetics center is a LIE. There is no Dianetics Center, only a phone number.

So who runs Preferred Security Mortgage?

Hodges is a clam that goes way back in Vegas history, Leach I don't know, perhaps on sight???

Preferred Security Mortgage is in a very large office complex, the complex is named, Las Vegas Plaza. The neighborhood is nice enough but it is purely a business neighborhood. Preferred itself is on the inside of the complex. You cannot see it from your car, there are no signs that lead to it, one has to park and find it.

The only thing on the front of the office is the number, 48, and the words: Preferred Security Mortgage. Even when you look in the window there is nothing that says Scientology or Dianetics.
