Column Tech is something I made up to describe those wacky columns that were being put inside each new ideal org. In the original pictures shown at the event, they looked like free standing columns. Hence, Column tech. This picture: http://www.solitarytrees.net/lvorgs/lv24a.htm is of the New Materials Guide Chart that is being installed in each org's bookstore. Here's more information on that picture from the latest International Scientology News 31 May 2005 TO GUARANTEE A GOLDEN AGE OF KNOWLEDGE, A NEW AUDIOVISUAL SYSTEM IS NOW IN EVERY ORG BOOKSTORE THE FINAL COMPONENT While nothing will ever change the importance of the Congresses, you can be certain as further lectures and books are released, that nobody is ever going to be confused again, because each type of book and lecture has its specific use. As you just saw with the Congresses-- they are not a mush--each one just like the other. They contain distinct tech, on distinct subjects. Mr. Miscavige said that, "The next 'newest' release will not replace the Congresses. It will be different. And we're going to make sure the distinct types of books, lectures and materials are clear to everyone--from here on out." Which is to say--it will no longer be "picking the cover you like best," or someone telling you their favorite. Instead--there is a new display and audiovisual system that from now on will exist in every Church Bookstore. The full Materials Guide Chart displays every type of material, with the books and lectures being the most prominent. But for every lecture not releasable-due to substandard original recordings on archaic equipment-it still appears in its correct date location, since it will be available in the Research and Discovery Volumes. You go to the Chart and find what you want. Next you go to the computerized touch screen. The menu shows every type of lecture series--such as the Congresses and the Classics. Others, such as the ACCs, will be added when they are released and available. When you press the Congress button, all Congresses come into view. You can simply scan and find the exact Congress just picked on the Guide Chart. Press the button on the one you want. What appears immediately is a complete synopsis of that lecture series, providing all the background of the Congress and a description of its technical significance. Press the "play button" and listen to LRH deliver a poignant segment from the lecture series you've chosen, while a dramatic visual presentation depicting it plays on the TV screen above. Such "LRH quote presentations" exist for each lecture series and you'll want to hear and see them all. Such are their impact. The system also has a glossary which appears on the computer screen below to help you clear up any misunderstood word you may run into. Additionally, the system is multilingual containing not only voice recordings but also subtitles in 15 additional languages: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish (Castilian), Spanish (Latin America) and Swedish. "The new Bookstore Enlightenment System provides an unmistakable guide for 'knowing how to know,'" Mr. Miscavige concluded. "There's also a version of the Chart for you. While you can pick one up at the org, they will also be broadly mailed. And each time a new release occurs, updated charts will be mailed out. So, from here on out, you will always be able to find and get what you need!" THE TOUCH SCREEN allows you to: Choose your language (out of 15 available), which can be both listened to or read as subtitles. Select the exact lecture series you want to know more about and read a description of it. Listen to LRH deliver a poignant segment from the lecture series you've chosen, while watching a dramatic visual presentation on the TV screen above. Look up any misunderstood word you may have.
